Landshark doesn't know where he got his name from and he doesn't really care. Some bots tend to confuse it with Landmine, but once Landshark pulls his fist from their abdomen they don't seem to get it wrong anymore. Always the practical jokester and seen by his peers as a wise guy, he often makes light of even the most dramatic situations.

It would have made a better Rodimus Prime, or Hoist, at least to me, if it had a head remold.
Still like the two E-Starscream repaints the best.

Thanks, I just found it funny that 2 people were actually doing the exact same thing at the same time.
I think this is an awesome figure. This is also the first ultra class figure to make it's way into a Botcon box set. I'm not counting pre-beast Megatron as he was a souvenir you had to buy separately.

Of course, I won't be attending, so I'll have to get what I like off eBay or somewhere, but maybe some of these won't go for too much and I'll be able to get a few. It didn't seem like last year's set went for much, maybe these will follow suit...

I'm surprised to hear that Tigertracks, but I really like this mold in general and this is the first mold for the set that I like. THis is not a mold for everyone, but it does have it;s charms.

i totally agree with you here. i was never crazy about this mold and i never understood why so many people loved it so much.

Upon saying that, one of the starscream repaints was nice (skyquake? the not-brown one), and scourges head was cool. but other than that... meh. It means money saved for masterpiece grimlock - one of the best figures ever - which is great

The colors and deco are quite nice.

The Games of deception and shattered glass sets (so far) weresoo much better. Considering its the 25th anniversary I'd have hoped for more (thus perhaps why its the bigger letdown). Glad I didnt buy it.
Ditto. I hoped for a set that walks through every generation, taking 1-1 mold from each, and not just lame AEC repaints. This set so far is very cheap.

Really? Better than Leozak? It's a pointless Roadbuster repaint, but who'd buy another Roadbuster after we've had two recent repaints?

Leozack is good, and I like the Starscream mold and the energon weapons it carries, but I just have a soft spot for this mold.
He looks cool.
Though you may be right, the Roadbuster repaint frenzy is getting a little out of hand.
But I still like the mold.

Eh, everyone has their own tastes. I'm glad they are making something that appeals to you, and not to me. Saves me money.
The idea was interesting, but the mold never worked well for me. The feet were always too loose, and the alt mode had problems staying together...for me.

They don't care anymore, they got their Henkei Seekers.

Like a lot of people, this set is really not doing it for me. This figure just looks so generic. I like this mold. I love my Landquake. But come on. The wings don't even fit on the figure. Are they even trying anymore?
I know I sound like I'm coming down on FunPub, but seriously, I am not happy with what they're doing. If I had known how crappy this box set was going to be, I would have skipped BotCon this year. But no, they make you commit to coming before you even get a peak at figures.
I really like the Energon Starscream repaints, but that's about all I like. If they're concerned more about the story than the figures, I say fuck the story. After the convention, nobodies gonna care how Landshark got his name. All they're gonna care about is does he fit in with my Classics shelf.
All FunPub should be worried about is making repaint/remolds that Hasbro won't do, like the seeker set or Deathsaurus. I could write them a list a mile long of awesome repaints they could do that Hasbro wouldn't, and fans would clamber for.
Cybertron Unicron as Bludgeon.
Energon Sharkticon as pre-beast Depthcharge.
Energon Cliffjumper as Sandstorm.
Cybertron Downshift as Shockwave.
Energon Insecticon as Bombshell.
Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe as Punch/Counterpunch.
Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe as Brakedown.
Cybertron Shortround as Seaspray.
CD Red Alert as Double Dealer.
Energon/Cybertron Scorponok as pre-beast BW Scorponok or G1 Scorponok.
Cybertron Thunderblast as Elita-1.
Classics Starscream as Sunstorm or Hailstorm.
Transmetal Primal as Apeface.
Transmetal Megatron as Snapdragon.
Cybertron Leobreaker as Razorclaw.
Transmetal Cheetor as Rampage.
Transmetal Rhinox as Headstrong.
Cybertron Crosswise as Dead End.
Universe Onslaught as Hardhead.
Should I keep going?

Can I join the 2 of you? I think the Botcon set is all kinds of awesome.
I don't remember Moses being around during the Roman time though. I thought that would be more of Jesus, Paul, and the apostles territory. Not trying to start a religion war here, just putting more thought into something than neccessary.

It was a Family Guy reference. And sure, join our struggle against the majority!

Seeing how quickly the Botcon sets are selling out, and the number of people whining I think we're just dealing with a vocal minority. That means the 3 of us can wage war on the majority of the minority!

ROFLMFAO.
This set has been really creative, I'll give it that. I just don't like the mold choices for Kup and Scourge that much. I might be better with it if their colors weren't looking all pastel.
I love the Energon Starscream repaints.
This guy, well, he's Roadbuster's color scheme on yet another random AEC figure. It's a formula that worked for a while, but it's getting old at this point. Pick another color scheme to abuse over and over again.
Whoever that was earlier who had a long list of mold-character suggestions for Sets, many great ideas in there. I've been screaming for Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe as Punch/Counterpunch ever since the mold came out. It's effectively already designed to have two robot modes. Sunstreaker's chest for Punch, Sideswipe's for Counterpunch. It seems like such an obvious repaint choice. Hell, Hasbro would probably be wise to make it a mass release.

I think it's impossible to please people with these BotCon sets. Some people want updated versions of classic characters ('05 Ironhide & Ratchet, '07 Seekers). Some want obscure characters from other continuities to finally be immortalized in plastic ('05 Deszarus & Chromia, '07 Alpha Trion). Some want the core characters revisited every year (Pretty much the entire '08 Shattered Glass set). Some want completely new characters every time (like most of the early BotCon exclusives).
There's no way to please everyone. Someone's going to get pissed off, no matter what... and those few will always voice their displeasure loud and clear.
So here's my opinion: I would have preferred to see a more extensive homage to the "lost period" in Transformers history... the dark years between the demise of G1, and the rise of G2, where Transformers only survived in Europe and Japan. So we're only getting a handful... that's still great. Some new characters are awesome, too, though I would've liked to see some more original color schemes for Landshark (as many have already said, ho hum, Roadbuster again). It's not what I most wanted (the hinted-at Wreckers set). It's not what I would have done, were I in their shoes. But it's what we're getting... something unique, something different, something familiar and yet new, all at the same time.
And I'm happy with that.

Classics Jetfire as Star Saber.
Universe Cyclonus as Brainstorm.
Armada Tidal Wave as Broadside.
Universe Hot Shot as Chromedome.
Universe Hound as Crosshairs.
Cybertron Lugnutz as Groove.
Armada Cyclonus as Highbrow.
Universe Silverstreak as Jazz and Stepper/Ricochet.
BM Tankor as Quake.
Universe Cyclonus as Scattorshot.
Energon Bulkhead as Sky Linx.
Armada Cyclonus as Spinister.
Universe Ravage as Steel Jaw.
Energon Slugslinger as Strafe.
Classics Rodimus as Wheeljack.
Cybertron Ransack as Wreck-Gar.
TFCC Nightbeat as Minerva.
I could do this all day.
Don't they got Ben Yee on staff there. No offense, but shouldn't this stuff be obvious to him? I'm sure you can take a hand full of those ideas and string together a decent story.
If FunPub wants, I can do this stuff for them every year. I can think of a ton of repaints, group them together, and write a short story for each group and let them pick which one they want to do. All I'd ask for is I get a free set and free trip to BotCon. I'd even help them with stuff at BotCon like setting up display cases, judging contests, and helping run fan activites. I just wanna help them make BotCon better for everyone.

I dont mind this repaint by the way - with the massive arm things it looks animated-esque. But if the purpose is elite guard, man there are so many things they could have done! Even a G1 Omega supreme repaint as omega supreme would work (no I dont have a brilliant imagination)!
That sunstreaker punch/counterpunch idea is awesome by the way.

There's a simple reason why a Punch/Counter-Punch wouldn't work. The fists. They would have to be manually taken off and swapped around to make them correct when you transform from one robot to the other.
If FunPub wants, I can do this stuff for them every year. I can think of a ton of repaints, group them together, and write a short story for each group and let them pick which one they want to do.
Many of the toys you come up with are either too new (they couldn't use Universe, Animated or Movie toys this year). Too old (I can't see them using molds from lines older than Armada again). Or already had the mold used for a previous convention or club exclusive - as a rule they use untouched molds every time.
Besides, they're the ones running the show, not you.
One starscream repaint, fine. 2?!... come on...
There were two uses of the Cybertron Crosswise mold last year, three uses of the Classics Starscream the year before, two uses of the Energon Divebomb mold and two uses of the Cybertron Clocker mold the year before that... and three uses of the BW Buzzclaw mold, two uses of the Energon Towline mold and two uses of the Energon Arcee mold back in 2005.
So two identical molds in this years convention... completely expected.
