I'm still laughing at all the people who were angry because they thought this would be canon back when it was first announced.

Ahem, anyway I like zombies n robots and stuff so I'm sure I'll at least get a few kicks outta this.

But it is canon. We already know that Infestation leads into Abnett & Lanning's Heart of Darkness mini-series starring Galvatron.

Well I... No- no I just don't feel like coming up with a witty response to that. Plus it would require research that I'm not willing to bother with. So I'll just stick to the usual "Oh ha ha, very funny." shtick.

It begins here! The first-ever IDW event, which affects the Transformers, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek universes!

All in the products description posted in the article.

I would also like to add that I'll wait for the trade paperback version of the Prime comic.

However I might be persuaded to get Infestation if we get Peter hitting on the Baroness and Uhura, while drunk, while sitting in Optimus Prime's truck mode.

It is not canon. I'm f***ing positive someone in a previous interview already said it wouldn't affect any of the current running series. God forbid, knowing my memory there could be a chance I'm wrong, still, if anything it's an alternate reality, or better yet they use four ultimate Mac Guffins and we get a "Never actually happened." ending, which would fit in with IDWs status quo.

Edit:
I guess the term "canon" being used here would still be up for debate though as in it's own alternate universe it would be canon, but let's not get complicated. I'm referring to it being canon within the current ongoing series, which it isn't... Though in retrospect it wouldn't be a bad thing. :-?

That with the interview, All Hail Megatron was originally also announced as a "What if" title. But Infestation has been stated as being in continuity with all four titles for quite some time now. Also the infestation portions for each series are issues in the ongoing titles as regular stories. Sure they could pull the "no longer canon" trick, but then they would loose what little credibility they have left.

Even if that Interview exists and states it's non-canon, this is the newest, most recent ad for it and it states it's canon for all 4 (actually 5) comic titles. It might have been originally intended as non-canon, but then again the upcoming Ridley Scott original Science Fiction movie "Prometheus" was originally intended to be the long awaited Alien Prequel.

As far as I can tell, it's only ever been spoken as canon within the marketing. And marketing descriptions of almost anything you can find are generally exaggerated in one way or another. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO COMICS I always take them with a grain of salt. We've all heard "An event that will change the course of 'such and such' as we know it!" a thousand times before, and it's usually either BS hype, or it (as I said) results in an ending that "never actually happened." etc. You get the idea.

So anyway, for those of us who have actually read Infestation ...

Have to say, it was better than I expected. How the four different titles are connected is explained, and why Cybertronians should be worried about zombies.

When it was first announced I had my reservations and admittedly the whole "we have to jump from universe to universe to fix things" storyline is a little old, it should make for some interesting reading.

Previews at the end of the book, and that's where I get a little bit worried as we have ANOTHER new take on how TF's should be drawn. Apparently they now need to look like Gundams. :-(

F**K YEAH!!!

Sorry, but I've seen this done with Transformers before and IMO it's perfectly tolerable if not awesome compared to what we have now. So while all of you guys are pissed about this change, I'll just be sittin' back with my "trollface.jpg" on.

Well, here is a snippet of an interview that Chris Ryall did:

How are you going to bring the plot back together at the end?

We will bring it back to a main Infestation storyline, and we will see some repercussions in the books, particularly the Transformers books. They won't be carrying on the zombie theme afterwards, but there will be consequences for these titles.

So yes, the main series will be affected by Infestation.

And here's a bit from DnA at Comicbookresources:

Following "Infestation" you have "Transformers: Heart of Darkness." It may be a bit early, since it builds from the crossover, but what can you tell us about the story there?

We've taken great care to try and construct a story that builds organically (no pun intended) on both the ongoing "Transformers" continuity and the "Infestation" events. We don't intend for a moment to change, rewrite or reboot anything, but we want to present a story that is accessible, a great and enjoyable way to slide yourself back into the magnificent universe of the Transformers.

The "Heart of Darkness" miniseries will feature Galvatron, who has been out of the regular "Transformers" comics for some time now. Is there anything you can say about what he's been up to in the meantime?

What big G has been up to is the very bedrock of the whole next phase, the adventure, the continuity itself. It's big, it'll shake things up in what we hope will be a vastly exciting way. It's a game changer in the best sense of the term.

Again, I have my doubts about anything they've said. It's comics after all. Even if it is meant to change anything, the so called "freedom" they've been giving they're transformers comics could easily result in some angry writer coming along and completely retcon-ing it away. I mean it's not like the editor even wants his job to exist.

Frack. Well, I don't care anymore. If anything, at least it will slightly derail Mike Costa's abomination a little bit. The series is already too full of stupid at this point. Going back to things like "Megatron Origin" and "Infiltration" and then looking at what we have now... #-o
