Legendary Transformers comic writer Simon Furman has just posted an interesting update on his blog. Simon has provided a summary of what was to be Dreamwave's Transformers Issue #14, scheduled to be written by Furman himself.

It’s Christmas! Well, almost. And here’s a little extra gift for Transformers fans from my recently dredged Dreamwave archive of unpublished tidbits. Not a lot of people know this, but in the final months of Dreamwave (not that we were aware they were the final months at the time), circa November 2004, I was asked to prepare a one-issue fill in for Dreamwave’s G1 book (issue #14 to be precise). Regular G1 writers James McDonough and Adam Patyk had stepped away from the book. (Being closer to the heart of things, Dreamwave-wise, they clearly saw the writing on the wall, so to speak, and stopped pouring work into the rapidly expanding black hole that was Dreamwave.) In the splendid isolation of this sceptered isle, I just carried on regardless. Though it was shaped to stand alone, I wanted the story to both pick up on what James and Adam has already established and tie G1 and my War Within series tighter together. The outline (it was never scripted) for ‘The Enemy Within’ (yeah, I know, but it fitted) follows. Enjoy!

I've held my tongue long enough... I know there are a lot of DW fans out there (I have never had a problem with DW), but I'm getting sick of these summaries of stories that never happened. This is all well and good for Furman, but it's non-canonical. It's psuedo-news and it clutters up the homepages of all the Transformers sites I go to. Same thing with the ark addendums... publish this stuff in batches so it doesn't clutter up the news! :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM: alright I'm done ranting.

What a Scrouge.

Sheesh.

I for one am grateful Furman has put out endings of stories that were in serious need of a conclusion.

And to argue what belongs or doesn't belong in The Canon is an exercise in folly.

There were many people who were quite disappointed when Dreamwave closed since we had been following the stories for many months. We're only just finding out what would have happened.

And since when did Seibertron sit on news for flimsy reasons?

I'm just a little annoyed with these summaries being posted almost daily... It could've just been one big batch

p.s. you mispelled Scrooge

Was never a big fan of The Fallen and the plot seems a bit thin to cover a whole issue but I'd still prefer it to the crap IDW is pushing now.

I for one am very grateful to be getting them. "Cluttering up the news"? Really? Like finding out "news" about Michael Bay's new project is any more newsworthy?

I LOVE this stuff. As an old school, born in the 70s, grew up in the 80s TF fan, it is awesome to see the behind the scenes items of work like this. To see the Transformers that "almost" was (and didn't we just have an interview with Pat 'Superstar' Lee, to connect all this), to see the early movie scripts, or to hear that certain characters were to have other names.... this is news.

Soon, these websites sites will be filled with the insectoid looking Michael Bay creatures, and I can skim. But for now, this is my news. Don't ruin my Christmas :-p

Primus, I miss Dreamwave. Pity someone couldn't publish these as comics.
